Ahava Rabbah/Ahavat Olam

Real teaching begins with love, the divine connection between human souls which enables the flow of Torah from one generation to the next.   In that flow, a father transmits his inner life to his child, and a teacher passes the wisdom of tradition on to her students.  

Words of Torah have been mother’s milk for us.  Like milk, they give us life, and come from deep within the one who loves us....our parent, our teacher, and God.

Of their own passionate yearnings to teach, our sages said that “more than the calf yearns to suckle, does the cow yearn to give suck” (Babylonian Talmud, Pesachim 112a).
